Going to the gym is boring. It's so boring that I haven't been in several years. Over a year ago I finally cancelled my gym membership, that I had for years and years. I made sure to come up with an elaborate lie, so there was no way I could ever re-join. I told them I was moving to Alabama to start a new life, and I was disappointed in the direction the gym was going since you no longer needed your pastor's permission to join. Yes, for the very few of you who didn't know, I was a member of the Lenawee Christian Centre, which at one point required your pastor/Reverend/priest to decide if you could join. Jesus plays a big roll in pools and racquetball courts and gym equipment. I joined because it was the nicest facility and Jesus proudly served Starbucks in the lobby.
Anyway, I wanted to make sure to burn all my bridges to the gym. I cannot become one of those people who talk about working out and get pissed at themselves when they can't make their 6 am workout and then they hate themselves. So they talk about working out on Facebook so it seems like they are really physically fit, and I don't even know what any of that means. But it's terribly boring.
I think working out should just be something you do or don't do in private. It's right up there with bathroom humor for me. I don't want to talk about poop or your leg workout! Well, I guess I have mentioned poop several times in this blog, so I guess that's slightly more acceptable to talk about. I think most people get annoyed with people who always talk about getting healthy or getting back to the gym, but never do. I get more annoyed with people who talk about working out on a regular basis. Especially if I am invited to par-take in these shenanigans. If I need to use the bathroom, or a treadmill, that is my business, and I will handle it accordingly. My body, my choice.
